Pet birds

I am house sitting for a friend. The newest edition to her home is a pet bird. I was rather leery of it. Then it sat on my shoulder and gave me kisses. I actually liked it because it didn’t drive my allergies crazy like a cat or dog does.

At my job we are getting three new kids, but they will not all be here for about a month. Three new kids means at least two new employees as well. One of the people that we interviewed had amazing potential. He was quiet, informed and had worked with a the same population for a couple of years. He also has a younger brother that was autistic. (Big help) He just gave off a good vibe. We are all really excited to have him start at ECHO.

I am working with a completely different group of students this school year. Last year, my work assigned me to a young man that had a focus of only 8-10 seconds.  So, I had to do a lot of physical redirection. I am with a couple of kids now that function at a higher level, so it is a different environment.

I think my red station wagon is about to bite the dust. The seals are all going bad and she has over 185,000 miles on her. I just pray over her every time I get in her that she will make it through the day. If I do get a new vehicle, it will probably only be a small put-put scooter to ride in town. I see no reason to own a new or used car.

Outside of that, I am really looking forward to seeing my Dad at the end of this month. He is going to come up to Redding for the Blue Angels performance during the Redding Air Show. It will be very good to have some time with him to just relax. And we’ll cook for him. (Smile.) The only thing he may not like is that we have no Internet access at our home.
